Sagittarius was a dwarf galaxy located in the constellation Sagittarius. Sagittarius is the celestial archer and is Latin for archer. The myth surrounding it involves the centaur Chiron. Chrion was the son of the Titan Kronos and the nymph Philyra. Kronos fearing he would be discovered by his wife Rhea digusied himself as a horse. As a result, Chiron was born with the form of a centaur, half man, half horse. However, unlike other centaurs Chiron was immortal and good-natured. He became the teacher of several Greek heroes.

One day while visiting Hercules Chiron was was accidently hit by one of the heroe's deadly arrows. The centaur wa sovercome with pain and even though he was immortal he begged Zeus for an end to his sufffering. He placed Chiron in the sky where he became the constellation Centaurus. Although linked with Sagittarius he became the other constellation.
