Ursa Minor and Uras Major are both Dwarf galaxies named after their respective constellations.
Usa Minor means Little Bear in Latin and is also known as the Little Dipper. It vaguely resembles a ababy bear with an usually long tail. Along with Ursa Major, the Great Bear, they formed the basis of the myth of Callisto and Arcas. The tail was said to have been lengthened from being short due it its being held by the tail and spun around the pole.
Cynosura was a nymph who nursed Zeus when he was being hidden from his father. In graitude Zezu placed her in the heaves as the constellation Usa Minor.
In early Greek Mythology the seven stars of Usa Minor were considered to be the Hesperides, or daughters of Atlas.
In even earlier times Ursa Minor was named the Dragon's wing and considered part of Draco.
Ursa Major's name means Great Bear in Lain and it is associated with the legends of Callisto and Cynosura.
According to Ovid it was Jove who took the form of Diana and forced himself upon Callisto, who had taken a vow to remain a virgin and stay by Diana's side. She became pregnant and was expelled from the group by Diana. She gave birth to Arcas. Juno transformed her into a bear. Sixteen years later she was encounted by her son Arcas who was hunting in the forest. Just before he was able to unknowingly kill his own mother Jove averted the tragedy by placying mother and son amonst the stars as Ursa Major and Ursa Minor.
